
Meet Carlyle Jesse David Jr, a Mental Health Counselor (MHC-LP) at Wellness Road Psychology, specializing in the intersection of Forensic Mental health and victimology. With a Master of Arts in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College of Criminal Justice (where he also attended his undergraduate studies in Forensic Psychology and double minoring in Law and Philosophy) in addition to obtaining an advanced certification in Victimology, Carlyle brings a sophisticated understanding of legal systems, trauma, and the complexities of human behavior to his clinic work.
Carlyle’s therapeutic approach is defined by a “human-first” philosophy. His use of integrative evidence-based practices is comprised of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based CBT and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). By blending these structured modalities with Humanistic and Holistic frameworks, he ensures that therapy is not merely a clinical process, but an ongoing collaborative journey towards his core principle beliefs of obtaining autonomy coupled with resilience.
In addition to his clinical practice, Carlyle is a Master Level Life Coach. This dual expertise allows him to pivot seamlessly between deep therapeutic processes, and high-agency, goal-oriented coaching. Whether navigating the aftermath of trauma or implementing a strategic plan for personal growth (as learned and utilized through positive psychology and the PERMA-V model) Carlyle provides a high-accountability environment where clients feel both challenged to achieve those “aha moments” coupled with a profound- first and foremost- sense of support and trust whether it be individually, as a couple, or from a familial structure.
Carlyle has had wonderful opportunities working with many different demographics ranging from forensic populations, assisting clients secure and maintain housing, to young adults navigating the complexities of the legal system (in non-profit organizations) to private sectors utilizing the Assertive Community Treatment framework where- Carlyle will always be willing to meet clients where they are, not just from a therapeutic standpoint but a literal one as well.
