About An-Chi Chen
Hello, I’m An-Chi, a bilingual licensed mental health counselor who provides therapy in Mandarin and English. Taking the first step toward caring for your mental health can feel difficult, and I’m glad you’re here. Have you ever felt like your voice wasn’t heard, or struggled to find someone you feel safe opening up to? Do you sometimes feel lost in today’s fast-paced world and question what you truly want in life? Or perhaps you’re navigating a major life transition that feels overwhelming. If any of this resonates with you, you’re not alone, and I’m here to support you.
As someone who grew up in Asian communities, I understand that expressing emotions or personal struggles is not always encouraged due to cultural expectations and educational environments. However, we don’t have to remain limited by those experiences. In therapy, we can explore new perspectives while honoring your cultural background, integrating past experiences with your present goals to create a healthier and more compassionate relationship with yourself.
I earned my Master’s degree in School Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University and an Advanced Certificate in Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University. My therapeutic approach is person-centered, culturally informed, and grounded in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.I work with both adolescents and adults. For teens, therapy may focus on identity development, peer relationships, academic pressure, and communication with parents or teachers. With adults, we often explore unhelpful thought patterns, stress, life transitions, and coping strategies that may no longer serve you. Together, we will identify your strengths, build supportive resources, and develop practical tools to help you not only find balance but truly thrive.
