About Alain Zagorin

Hello! My name is Alain (pronounced Alan), and I am a psychotherapist dedicated to helping individuals and couples deepen their understanding of themselves, their relationships, and their sexuality. I hold two master’s degrees — one in Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and another in Career Counseling from the University of Sherbrooke — as well as advanced training in sex therapy.

My approach is collaborative and integrative, blending Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), humanistic, and existentialist perspectives. I provide an affirming and nonjudgmental space for clients navigating issues related to sexuality, gender identity, intimacy, and relational diversity. This includes LGBTQ+ clients, transgender and nonbinary individuals, people exploring polyamory or open relationships, and those engaged in kink or BDSM communities.

I also specialize in men’s health and men’s issues, supporting clients in areas such as identity, relationships, intimacy, and emotional expression. In addition, I work with concerns around sexuality that may feel stigmatized — including compulsive sexual behaviors, high-risk sexual patterns, and attraction concerns (such as MAPs) — always within a safe, ethical, and compassionate therapeutic frame. In our sessions, you can expect warmth, authenticity, and openness. I balance humor with deeper existential discussions, helping clients build insight, develop strategies, and cultivate empowerment.
